During the tummy tuck procedure, Dr. Trapero will make a careful incision from hip to hip; the incision is typically made below the bikini-line, easily hidden by clothing or swim wear. After the initial incision, a skin flap is created. Then, Dr. Trapero will tighten the underlying muscles, thereby narrowing the waistline. Once the excess skin is removed, the skin flap will be replaced, and the incision will be closed with sutures.

After a tummy tuck, you should allow a week or two of healing at home; you may find it takes several weeks to feel completely normal. Stitches are generally removed about five to seven days after abdominoplasty. It is extremely important that you follow all post-operative instructions carefully. While strenuous exercise should be avoided for at least six weeks after the procedure, we recommend that you begin taking gentle walks as soon as you can after surgery to prevent blood clots.
